As one of the three ultimate application areas of textile industry, China attaches much attention to the development of industrial textile products. A responsible person from China WebTextiles says that in 2000, the proportion of fiber consumption of the end products—garment, household and industrial use was 68:22:10, and in 2007, it was 53:33:14. According to the Eleventh Five-Year Plan of China Textile Industry, in 2010, the proportion will change into 50:33:17, which indicates that with the improvement of Chinese residents’ living standard and the upgrade of consumption, the demand in decorating and industrial fields will increase faster than that in the garment field. Its market is promising.
Meanwhile, as is shown in the authoritative statistics, in the past five years, though the development of China industrial textile product industry kept an annual growth rate around 20% and the whole industry enjoyed a fast growth, there are still many indispensable problems: first, the raw materials are used in a narrow scope; second, the industrial textile product industry is still centering on the non-woven industry in which several processing modes co-exist; third, the non-woven are widely used in many aspects, such as war industry, national defense, civilian and arts and sports, etc, but it is not extensively acknowledged by most industries; finally, without realizing the fast advancement of industrial textile products, many enterprises still regard the garment as the main industry.
As the experts predict, industrial textile products will be the only segment in China textile industry that can grow in a large scale in future, because, strictly speaking, the market of the fiber used in the garment segment is saturated, and it is also true of the household textile product market.
