The first book, titled “Real-Time Execution for IEC 61499,” is written by Dr. Alois Zoitl of ACIN at the Technical University of Vienna, and gives an analysis of dynamic reconfiguration and the execution behavior of IEC 61499.
The second E-book, “Safety Profiles for Real-Time Ethernet-Based Industrial Automation Networks,” offers a clear introduction on real-time communication systems and functional safety concepts, the methods and techniques necessary to achieve real-time communication and functional safety compliance within industrial production systems according to the IEC 61508. It is written primarily by Dr. Luca Ferrarini from Polimi in Italy.
Dr. Ferrarini is also primarily responsible for an upcoming new book that contains 14 papers from more than 40 authors. Titled “Modeling, Control, Simulation and Diagnosis of Complex Industrial and Energy Systems”, this resource will be available in January and features papers that stem from the 50th anniversary conference of ANIPLA, the national automation society of Italy.
These volumes are the latest in a series of books on automation technologies that was first introduced last year when the first book of the series, a primer on the IEC 61499 standard by Dr. Valeriy Vyatkin, was published.
