November 19, 2008 — Schneider Electric announces a signed reseller agreement with Dassault Systems for its Delmia software, combining leading-edge 3D simulation, automated design and validation capabilities with the practical controls implementation and execution experience of Schneider Electric’s Industrial Solutions Center.
This breakthrough agreement allows Schneider Electric to offer customers significant reductions in time to market, together with greater manufacturing flexibility and error-proofing through virtual validation and standardization. Manufacturing processes and their control systems can now be designed, simulated, and tested in the virtual world-eliminating or reducing the need for separate controls design and expensive debugging on the manufacturing floor.
“Combining Schneider Electric’s automation and control expertise with Dassault Systems 3D digital, a virtual manufacturing simulation tool set will allow our customers to dramatically reduce time to market for new products,” said Greg Bodenhamer, director of the Schneider Electric Industrial Solutions Center. “With Delmia software, Schneider Electric can help manufacturers design and operate manufacturing processes in a virtual environment, allowing users to conduct extensive testing prior to real-world implementation. Process layout, equipment control and operation as well as alarming and fault conditions can be validated before the customer ever begins the bid process for the new system.”
Traditionally, once a new product line is up and running, engineers and plant floor managers are faced with the constant need to make corrections to achieve the optimal production process. The ability to refer to a digital model allows manufacturers to simulate the changes, view the implications, and error-proof the production process before the first actual production test is conducted.
Schneider Electric also assists manufacturers by offering consulting and engineering support to implement these virtual changes. Specialized teams of experts within our Industrial Solution Center work in partnership with you to apply our leading power, control and automation products to your business to deliver innovative solutions that improve quality, performance and productivity. This includes incorporating the Delmia software to the design process, which has served as an invaluable asset to the automotive industry, saving some manufacturers 70 percent of the time and expense normally required in a traditional body shop design and installation.
With the reseller agreement, Schneider Electric intends to expose the benefits of Delmia software to manufacturers outside of the automotive industry, including food processing applications, where it is crucial to understand how new products will change a manufacturing line prior to a capital commitment.
