FDT Technology as an international standard
Brussels, September 24, 2008: The FDT Group AISBL proudly announces that the FDT specification,
presented as Committee Draft for Vote CDV 62453, has successfully passed the vote of
the international community represented by 17 active national committees worldwide and 2 observing
committees.
Thus, the member countries of the sub-committee IEC SC 65 E, have approved all 18 parts of
the FDT specification. The document is now ready for the next steps in the process of being accepted
as an International Standard, which are the votes as FDIS, Final Draft for International
Standard, and the final vote as IS, International Standard, expected in May 2009.
Klaus-Peter Lindner, Vice President for Associations and Standardization in the FDT Group
declares “The FDT Group has the clear strategic goal of having the FDT specification become
an International Standard. This important milestone was reached thanks to all the international
experts who worked hard to resolve all comments made on the previous Committee Drafts and
to include them in the available Committee Draft. The unanimous acceptance by the national
committees shows that all previously submitted comments were addressed to their full satisfaction.
We are looking forward to the next steps and a successful acceptance of FDT Technology
as an International Standard”
